A Young Star and his Dad

In what must have been a mix of emotion and embarrassment, Jaspa Fletcher watched on as his dad, Adrian – a pretty fair footballer himself – not overly fast, not athletically gifted, but boy did he know how to get the ball – began speaking prior to presenting Jaspa with his number 28 jumper prior to his debut game with the Lions.

Other watched on mesmerised as Adrian described Jaspa’s early achievements, competitiveness and athletic prowess – “must have got it all from his Mum Narelle” – a very gifted basketballer, who played at the highest level.

But any embarrassment disappeared replaced by emotion as Adrian concluded his speech beautifully talking about the privilege represented by pulling on the Lions Jumper.

And didn’t Jaspa turn it on, on the ground.
